Ha Giang Safari Hostel
Your Ha Giang Loop adventure begins the evening before your tour with a complimentary night's stay at Ha Giang Safari Hostel. Wake up refreshed with a free breakfast before hitting the road. You will get assigned an Easy Rider for the tour. Try on helmets and find your perfect fit before departure. Free safety gear is also available, including elbow pads, knee pads, and a helmet. You will securely store your large bag in a locked storage room so you can pack light — just bring a small bag for the journey ahead. Before setting off, your tour guide will walk the group through a full route debrief, covering highlights, safety tips, and everything you need to know — with time to answer all your questions.Tip: Pack only what you need for 2 days in a small bag. Leave the rest locked safely at the hostel — it'll be waiting for you when you return!
Heaven Gate (Quan Ba)
The first day brings a dramatic shift in scenery as you leave Ha Giang city behind and wind your way through mountain roads and sweeping hairpin bends — locally known as snake rolls. The ride itself is part of the experience, with every curve revealing a more breathtaking landscape than the last. Your first major stop is the legendary Heaven Gate (Cổng Trời), reached by crossing the Bac Sum Pass. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with a sweeping panoramic view of Tam Son town nestled in the valley below and the iconic Twin Mountains (Núi Đôi) — two perfectly symmetrical hills rising from the valley floor.
Tam Son
Enjoy family-style lunch in the charming town of Tam Son. Shared dishes of local Vietnamese flavors are brought to the table for everyone to enjoy together — a warm, communal way to refuel and soak in the laid-back pace of town life in the highlands. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. Lunch is included in your tour package.
Yen Minh (Pine Forest & Valleys)
As you leave Quan Ba behind and continue north, the landscape begins to shift into something softer and altogether unexpected. The road winds through the Yen Minh Pine Forest — nearly 100 hectares of tall, slender pines stretching across rolling hills that feel a world apart from the dramatic limestone cliffs ahead. The air turns noticeably cooler, carrying a crisp alpine freshness. Beyond the pine forest, terraced rice fields unfold across valleys and hillsides, dotted with traditional wooden houses and small ethnic minority villages. It's one of the most peaceful and photogenic stretches of the entire loop.
Tham Ma Pass
One of the most photographed spots on the entire Ha Giang Loop, Tham Ma Pass is a must-stop. The iconic S-curve road snaking through the mountains makes for an unforgettable photo. Take a few minutes to grab a coffee from a local stall, breathe in the mountain air, and soak in the sweeping views stretching across the valleys below. H'Mong locals are often found here in their traditional dress, and souvenirs are available.
H’Mong King Palace (Vuong Palace)
Step back in time with a visit to Vuong Palace, the magnificent former residence of H'Mong King Vuong Duc Chinh and his son Vuong Chi Sinh. Built in the early 20th century and blending Vietnamese, Chinese, and H'Mong architectural styles, the palace is a fascinating window into the history and culture of the highland people who once ruled this remote corner of Vietnam. Your Easy Rider guide will introduce the story and the significance of the palace. Entrance is included in your tour package.
Lung Cu Flagpoint
One of the most iconic stops on the Ha Giang Loop, Lung Cu Flag Tower sits at the northernmost point of Vietnam, perched high on Dragon Mountain just a stone's throw from the Chinese border. Climbing up the stone steps rewards you with one of the most breathtaking and patriotic views in the entire country — Vietnam's giant national flag flying proudly overhead against a vast panorama of mountains and valleys stretching in every direction. The tower itself is built in the shape of a dragon's head. Entrance is included in your tour package.
Dong Van Town
As the afternoon light fades, your Easy Rider guides you into the charming old town of Dong Van — one of the most atmospheric stops on the entire loop. Dinner is family-style, included in your tour price. In the cooler winter months, warm up with a steaming hotpot shared around the table. If your trip falls on a weekend, Dong Van's famous night market comes alive in the evening, drawing locals and travelers alike for a lively spread of street food, local produce, and highland culture.
Dong Van Town
Start with a homemade breakfast prepared by the homestay, served with your choice of coffee or tea. Pack your bag and get ready to head out for the last day of your tour!
Ma Pi Leng Pass
Ask anyone who has done the Ha Giang Loop what their single most breathtaking moment was, and chances are they'll say Ma Pi Leng. Widely regarded as the most spectacular pass in all of Vietnam, Ma Pi Leng is the crown jewel of the loop — a dramatic stretch of road carved into sheer limestone cliffs that plunges down to the brilliant turquoise waters of the Nho Que River snaking through the canyon far below.
Boat Ride on Nho Que River
After taking in the views from above at Ma Pi Leng, descend to the banks of the Nho Que River to experience its famous turquoise waters up close. Board a traditional boat and cruise along the river, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs that rise dramatically on either side — a completely different and equally stunning perspective of the landscape. The boat cruise is included in your tour price.
Meo Vac & Mau Due
The journey continues deeper into some of the most remote and rarely seen corners of Ha Giang Province. Riding through distant villages and rugged terrain, you'll catch an authentic glimpse of everyday life in rural Vietnam — isolated communities, traditional houses, and a pace of life far removed from the modern world. Pass through the bustling market town of Meo Vac before continuing on to the quiet village of Mậu Duệ for lunch (included in your tour) at a local Vietnamese restaurant.
Duong Thuong (Back Route)
Đường Thượng road is the rewarding back route home to Ha Giang City. Winding through pine-covered hills, quiet ethnic minority villages, and sweeping valley views with a fraction of the traffic, it's the perfect way to ease out of the mountains and bring the full loop to a beautiful close.
Ha Giang Safari Hostel
The final stretch of the loop brings one last taste of Ha Giang's magic — a cruising ride back through the winding mountain roads, passing through quiet villages and sweeping landscapes. Arrive back at Ha Giang Safari Hostel around 4:30–5:00pm. Freshen up with a shower, grab a coffee or tea, and help yourself to some snacks while you rest your legs. Play some games, swap stories, and take your time saying goodbye to your Easy Rider guides. When you're ready, the hostel is perfectly placed to get you to your next bus or onward destination.
Note: Routes may be subject to change due to road conditions and weather. Homestay locations may vary depending on availability, but the quality of stay remains high.
