THE STORY OF HA GIANG SAFARI — A HA GIANG LOOP TOUR COMPANY
At 22, Thảo was an accountant in Hanoi — successful but unfulfilled. Breaking free from corporate life and beauty-standard pressures, she left to find a more meaningful path. That decision eventually led her to Ha Giang.
Thảo and her husband Tu arrived in Ha Giang with a shared dream. They welcomed their first daughter, Talia, and invested all of their wedding gift money into a small homestay in Yen Minh.
The worsening COVID-19 outbreak forced the homestay to close. Thảo and Tu said goodbye to their first venture — but not to their dream of building something in Northern Vietnam.
While selling paint, bird's nest, and clothing to support her family, Thảo pitched a bold idea: a hostel in Ha Giang — at the peak of COVID-19, with limited money and a newborn.
"We will either win everything or lose everything."
Safari Home opened with just enough money to buy eight motorbikes. The risk paid off.
With no staff and limited English, Thảo and Tu ran everything themselves. Thảo committed to learning English through online videos and volunteers — knowing communication was key to Safari's future.
Safari began to truly thrive, welcoming travellers from across the globe to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Northern Vietnam on the famous Ha Giang Loop.
Thảo welcomed her second daughter, baby Linda, and expanded with a new location — Ha Giang Safari Hostel — cementing Safari's place as a leading Ha Giang travel experience.
Safari's values remain unchanged: welcoming travellers to feel the magic of the Ha Giang Loop, creating unforgettable memories, and supporting the local community and children in need.
“About the name of Ha Giang Safari… a lot of people ask why I name the business “Safari” and the answer is really simple. I have an iPhone and I click on Safari to look and ask for anything I need. So I hope the people can understand when they come to Safari, you can find everything you need.”
